Jen Chen Buddhism Sanger Mission
Jen Chen Buddhism Sanger Mission, a non-profit organization, was established in 1992, in Sanger, Fresno County, California. New branches were open to the public in the following locations and time: Monterey Park, Los Angeles County in 2002, San Francisco in 2004, and Pasadena, Los Angeles County in 2018. This mission is to promote Buddhism and teach ways to achieve enlightenment, inspire wisdom, pursue liberation and practice Bodhisattva’s path. The Five Precepts, Ten Meritorious Deeds, Four All-Embracing Virtues and Six Perfection help human beings to improve behaviors, purify the mind, bring about stability in society, and attain blissful lives. Mankind can, therefore, follow the path of Buddhism and ultimately attain Buddhahood (enlightenment). The main idea of Buddhism is to teach us realize the true phenomenon of the whole universe and to apply Buddhist teachings in our daily lives, so that Buddhist principles can be understood, embraced, and practiced by all human beings with the aim to creating world peace and happiness.
The mission is to pursue the following 12 goals:
- Cultivating the teachings of Namo Sakyamuni Buddha and Namo H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III.
- Emulating and practicing the spirit of Bodhisattvas
- Promoting Buddha’s teachings
- Inspiring the development of wisdom in mankind
- Propagating the culture of blissfulness
- Purifying the mundane thoughts of man
- Developing compassion and providing relief towards all beings
- Benefiting society with blissful joys
- Purifying our world and helping people attain happiness
- Advancing towards global peace
- Beautifying this Samsara World
- Realizing supreme enlightenment
Jen Chen Buddhism Sanger Mission has been providing various programs for Buddhist disciples to get familiar with what messages Buddhas want to convey to us. The programs include dharma-listening, dharma assembly, chanting, praying, sutra studies, retreats, special occasion dharma assembly, outdoor activities, charity activities, community services, etc. Through different activities, the disciples will understand Buddha’s teachings better and therefore, apply them in their daily lives. If each individual is able to make those teachings practical, the benefit will not only be for those individuals, but further extend to the whole society and even the whole world. Our goal is to bring peace and happiness to the world, and this is a task that everyone is responsible. Therefore, we would like to invite those who have the same goal to join us so we can work together to bring happiness and peace to ourselves.
