Honoring Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva’s Birthday at Holy Miracles Temple

A remarkable gathering of faith and devotion unfolded at the Holy Miracles Temple as believers united for the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva Dharma Assembly. This event was organized by the World Buddhism Association Headquarters, Holy Miracles Temple, and Jen Chen Buddhism Sanger Mission, and held in the esteemed Shakyamuni Buddha Hall on March 9, 2025.

The assembly was led by the Abbess Ruzun Ruohui of the Hua Zang Si Temple, alongside Dharma Master Juehui and Dharma Master Miaokong. Together, they welcomed a congregation of holy gurus, eminent monks, and devoted monastics, all gathered to honor Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. Renowned for boundless compassion and kindness, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva has long served as a symbol of hope and solace for many beings. According to Buddhist teachings, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, who had attained Buddhahood as the Correct Dharma Realization Tathagata many eons ago, is believed to continue manifesting as a Bodhisattva. Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva has made sacred vows to assist beings in suffering, representing an ongoing commitment to alleviate suffering in various forms.

Ruzun Ruohui shared the significance of this gathering during the ceremony for the Holy Birthday of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. She noted that the Dharma Assembly at Holy Miracles Temple was dedicated to reciting scriptures and praying for the well-being of attendees, as well as for those affected by natural disasters and epidemics worldwide. Ruzun Ruohui emphasized that through faith, the practice of good deeds, avoiding negative actions, and following the teachings of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, attendees could seek to bring about positive change and safeguard themselves from adversity. She offered heartfelt wishes for world peace, national prosperity, and the happiness and well-being of all beings.

The Holy Miracle Temple promotes the compassionate spirit of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, dedicating many years to community care and charitable activities. In the face of frequent natural disasters and social unrest, the Temple hopes to promote social harmony through charitable actions and allow more people to experience the warmth of Buddhism. The successful completion of this Dharma Assembly not only provided substantial spiritual benefits to the followers but also inspired everyone to practice Buddhism in their daily lives, actively engage in virtuous deeds, and benefit all sentient beings.

During the assembly, attendees recited passages from “The Lotus Sutra’s Universal Gate Chapter on Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva,” a deeply revered text highlighting the virtues and benevolence of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. Through chanting, meal offerings to the Buddhas, and their heartfelt prayers, participants aimed to receive blessings for happiness, auspiciousness, and the enrichment of fortune and wisdom.

The Dharma Assembly underscores the enduring impact of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva’s teachings. It also highlights the congregation’s deep compassion and aspiration to alleviate the suffering of all beings affected by the challenging events of 2025, embodying their heartfelt wish for a world imbued with peace and harmony.
